Take Control Of Your Thoughts…

Your thoughts have great power…

Your thoughts plant seeds in your mind.

By holding onto particular thoughts, you invest power in them.

Positive thoughts give you energy and strength.

Negative thoughts rob you of power and are a drain on your energy.

You may find this hard to believe, but, by nature you’re positive, we all are!

Negativity is the result of many things…

Limiting beliefs… some from your childhood…

Society… we’re bombarded by negative news, comments and thoughts… hundreds, if not thousands, of times each and every day…

Friends, family and work colleagues… often inadvertently, by things they say or do…

The list goes on…

But one thing is certain…

You can change if you want to.

You can’t control other people…

You can’t control situations…

You can’t control circumstances…

But you can control what is going on inside you.

You can control your thoughts.

It takes time to change.

It takes time to transform those old patterns of thinking.

But… be patient with yourself.

It all starts with a thought…

It all starts today!

Are you a shining example of Christ at work in today’s world?

Or… are you hidden away?

Being a Christian isn’t just about going to church, reading the bible and prayer. Sure, all of those things are important.

But it’s also important to share your joy in Christ with others.

I’m not suggesting you try and “convert” people by talking about Jesus all the time or by constantly telling people to stop sinning and turn to Christ. More than likely that will simply turn people away from Christ and you’ll become alienated from your friends and work colleagues.

No, much better to be the shining light on the top of the hill.

Show your joy in Christ by…

Walking round with a smile on your face…

Support those in need.

Show people what being a Christian really means.

And when they notice a change in you and ask why you’ve changed so much or when they ask you why you’re so happy and contented, simply tell them it’s because you have Jesus in your life.

No more… and no less.

It won’t be long before someone asks you more questions.

Answer their questions simply but truthfully.

Resist the urge to try and convert… they’re already half way there!

Trust in God to do the rest.

This is the beginning of a new day.

God has given me this day.

I can waste it or grow in its light and be of service to others, but what I do with this day is important because I have exchanged a day of my life for it.

When tomorrow comes today will be gone for ever.

I hope I will not regret the price I paid for it.

I came across this on the back of a bookmark, bought some time ago in a small church in Clovelly in Devon in the UK, and it made me think long and hard about how I spend my time.

Sure we all need time to relax from time to time, but it’s important to use the time given to us by God, wisely.

So next time you feel a little bored or don’t know what to do, do something in God’s name. Go and visit someone who’s lonely, maybe… anything… just help someone in need.

Then you surely won’t regret the price you pay for your day.
